Pets with Attitude is one of the latest pet stores in San Diego, California. The owners, Robert and Beth have put up the shop as a full service animal shop. They have two other shops in the area and hope to expand through PetSmart and eventually have nationwide distribution. They have hired a small marketing team for their pet store and hope to do things a little differently than their competition. Pets with Attitude opened for business in October, 2021 and they had planned a grand opening celebration. Almost as soon as the doors opened it became clear that Pets with Attitude was going to be different than most pet stores in the San Diego area. It was founded by two pet lovers and the owners had spent years working hard to build the pet food chain into a world wide pet food giant. They hoped Pets with Attitude would be a major competitor in the growing national marketplace for pet food.
Robert and Beth started the Pet store by hand with no real marketing plan and no funding. They simply knew that pets deserved a good, safe place to live and to be free to enjoy their lives. So they opened the doors to Pets with Attitude with the same enthusiasm that they have poured into their pet adoption centers. They began with a large and fast growing adoption center in Encinitas that is now closed but to open a second facility they are planning.
In the beginning Pets with Attitude was not really cost effective. Pets with Attitude invested much of its advertising budget in television ads and radio promotions in major markets such as Los Angeles and San Francisco. Beth and Robert realized that pet owners were not going to spend money at their pet shop if they weren't going to have a lot of choices and were not likely to spend money on other services and merchandise. So the advertising and promotion spending became much more effective. They also decided to expand into several new markets by purchasing pet store locations in Florida and Georgia.
When Pets with Attitude began offering a wide selection of healthy and all natural cat and dog foods as well as pet products like food, treats, and toys, it quickly became very popular with dog owners and pet lovers. Pets with Attitude quickly established itself as one of the top pet stores selling healthy and quality products for dogs and cats, as well as attracting a large number of pet owners who had never considered buying from a pet store before. As Pets with Attitude began expanding, Beth and Robert expanded their store locations by opening stores in Alabama, New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, and Maryland. This rapidly growing business realized that there were two types of people who shopped at Pets with Attitude: pet owners who had very sick or unhappy animals and pet lovers who wanted to buy healthy, quality products for their pets.
